The song surfaced online yesterday. It’s obviously unfinished but you can definitely get the feeling that it’s a hit in the making. Hopefully the finished joint drops soon.

ASUU Strike Has Increased Prostitution, Group Alleges
COALITION of Civil Society Organizations, Market women and students have staged a protest with placards of different inscriptions at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, over the continuous strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, alleging that the strike has increased prostitution in the country.
The group which noted that the strike was entering the fourth month appealed to the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, the Trade Union Congress, TUC and appealed to the union to call off the strike in the interest of Nigerians.
Some of the placards read, “ASUU please save our young girls from prostitution, NLC, TUC and NUPENG mediate now, Stop playing politics with our future, This ASUU strike has lost its tactics, ASUU please save our future.”
Though, the group in some of the placards had accused the striking university teachers of being selfish and too rigid in their demands, in what looked like a contradiction, the groups also said that the demands were germane and for the good of the education system.
Delivering a letter to the NLC President at the Labour House, the leader of the protest and Executive Director of Conscience Nigeria, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju said that they decided to embark on the protest to appeal to the labour leaders to mediate on the lingering face-off between ASUU and the Federal Government that had led to the continuous closure of public universities in the country.
Comrade Adeyanjul said, “We embarked on this protest today to further appeal to all major stakeholders in the Nigeria project and we deem it fit to come to the labour house because of the strategic importance that labour represents in this country.
“For almost 100 days, our students, our dependants, our children have been locked out of our ivory towers and nothing has changed. We are here to appeal to the labour leaders in this country to come and mediate on the lingering and prolonged ASUU strikes.
“We are not unaware on the germane and relevant issues raised by ASUU, there is need for our institutions to be revitalized, there is need for improved research, there is need for improved allowance, there is need for infrastructural development in ivory towers, but all over the world no country has been able to meet the demands of labour unions 100 per cent.”
“With the information available to us, we are aware that the federal government proposed and has given ASUU a 100 billion initial fund requested for different issues in the various universities.
We are aware that ASUU appealed for more money to be given on the earned allowance and 30 billion was given for earned allowance as at today about 130 billion has been given to ASUU.”
Receiving the protesters, President of NLC, Abduwaheed Omar, represented by the Chief Economist of NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo’eson said that the labour leaders had initiated moves by writing to the Federal government about four times on how to mediate but government had not responded to their letters.

Solomon Lar Lived In Abuja Rented apartment, Had Difficulty Paying Rent, aide Says
NATIONAL, NEWS
Arthur Eze promised to buy the
house for Mr. Lar’s family.
The members of the National Working
Committee, NWC, of the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, led by
Bamanga Tukur, paid a condolence
visit to the Abuja home of the pioneer
chairman of the ruling party, Solomon
Lar, only to be shocked that the late
politician was merely a tenant there.
Mr. Lar died in the United States on
Wednesday at 80. He was the first
civilian governor of the old Plateau
State, comprising the present Plateau
and Nasarawa. He also served the
country in other capacities, including
Police Affairs Minister under the
military administration of Sani Abacha
before he became the founding PDP
National Chairman in 1998.
An aide of the late politician, Danladi
Wuyep, a former ambassador, told
the NWC members during the
condolence visit that he (Mr. Lar) did
not have a private house in Abuja.
Mr. Wuyep explained that the duplex
Mr. Lar and members of his family
lived in Maitama District, Abuja, was
not only a rented apartment, but that
he was already having challenges in
paying the rent before his demise.
The aide added that he and other
family members, whose names he did
not mention, were planning to see Mr.
Tukur, over matter before the death of
Lar abroad.
Earlier, the PDP chairman said he
received with shock the news of the
death of Mr. Lar, whom he described
him as one of Nigeria’s greatest
nationalist.
“It is with shock that I received the
shattering news of the passage of one
of Nigerian’s greatest nationalist
Chief Dr Solomon Lar,” Mr. Tukur
said.
“Chief Solomon Lar has been a close
friend and an associate, to me
politically for a long time now, he was
open minded, fearless, dogged, and a
resolute fighter for the right of the
oppressed and the less privileged.
“A great family man and
disciplinarian, Lar was a dependable
husband to his spouse and a loving
father who cherished his children.
“He did not spare anything in given
his children the best training and
education”.
He also noted that the late elder
statesman was one of those who
challenged certain policies of the
military regime at that time despite
the dangers to their lives and property
which such divergent views posed.
“Chief Lar stood to be counted
among other nationalists and brave
statesmen who refused to keep quiet
while the nation was getting close the
precipitate.
“It was his group which midwife the
formation of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP). Lar was one of the
founding fathers of PDP and our
pioneer Chairman.
“He also led the PDP to electoral
victories in 1999. In a sense, Chief
Lar laid the foundation for the strong
resilient and vibrant political party
which the PDP is today,” the PDP
chairman said.
Mr. Lar’s daughter, Beni, who is a
member of the House of
Representatives, said the father lived
for the peace and unity of the
country.
She challenged the PDP leaders to
carry on with this legacy, even within
the PDP family.
Meanwhile, a businessman and
politician, Arthur Eze, who was also
on a condolence visit to the Lar family
when the PDP delegation came,
promised the family that he would buy
the same apartment for the children
of the deceased.
“I am paying for the house, don’t
border yourself”, he said.
Mr. Eze, who hails from Anambra
State, extolled Mr. Lar’s virtue,
adding that the late politician assisted
him when he was governor of Plateau
State.
He described Mr. Lar as a detribalized
Nigerian who was willing to lend a
helping hand to the down trodden.
“I came to him from Enugu, he never
knew me before and he gave me the
contract for the building of a
television station. The first money that
touched my hand came from him. He
is a different human being,” he said

Governors To Corpers - Create Jobs For Yourselves
The National Youth Service Corps on Thursday organised a passing out ceremony for the 2012 Batch C NYSC members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory with some governors advising them to deploy their energies towards nation building. They also advised them to create jobs for themselves.
In Akwa Ibom State, the governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, advised them to continue serving the nation in whatever sector of the economy they find themselves.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Ita Umo, during the passing out ceremony in Uyo on Thursday, the governor urged the youth corps members to develop positive attitude towards the country.
He said, “Let me advise you that the task of nation building does not end with your one year mandatory service. As you step out of the scheme and Akwa Ibom State today, you need to be reminded to always have positive attitude towards Nigeria, by aspiring to lift our nation high as inscribed in the NYSC anthem.
The governor advised the outgoing 2,893 corps members in the state to embrace self-employment.
Also, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, urged the corps members to deploy their creative thinking into how to create jobs for themselves rather than roaming the streets in search of paid jobs.
Aregbesola said this at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun State on Thursday at the passing out ceremony of 2012 Batch C corps members deployed into the state.
He said, “ It is imperative to stress that gone are the days to expect that immediately after service, one would secure an automatic life-time job even among several alternatives. The attitude and orientation of majority of our young graduates was that creative thinking and individual initiative ended when they wrote their final examination.
“This is absolutely wrong. You need to apply creativity more now in the face of unemployment bedeviling the nation. Focus more on self employment.”
Also, the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, advised the outgoing corps members to train themselves to become self-reliant in order to assist government to tackle the problem of unemployment.
Amaechi, who gave this advice on Thursday while addressing the 2012 Batch ‘C’ corps members at the passing-out of 3,431 corps members in Port Harcourt, said that white collar jobs were no longer available for employable Nigerians.
“As you are now faced with the task of seeking gainful employment, I advise you to nurture and apply yourselves to the practical lessons of self-employment, which you were exposed to in the course of your service year, through the skills acquisition and entrepreneurial development programme, as white collar jobs are no longer available for all employable Nigerians as in the past.
“I therefore urge you to be self-reliant so as to assist the government in fighting the rising rate of unemployment in our society,” Amaechi said.
However Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State urged them to make the necessary sacrifice required to achieve success in their chosen careers.
The governor said this on Thursday, at their passing-out ceremony in Enugu.
He said, “Some of you may be rightly apprehensive of what tomorrow holds for you. I want to assure you that it is bright. As educated young men and women with requisite skills, the sky is your limit.
“However, you must recognise that the road to success has never been easy. History has shown that no individual or nation has ever achieved success without sacrifices.”
He said that through their education and participation in the NYSC scheme, they had been equipped for survival in a competitive world.
Also, Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State commended the outgoing corps members for their contributions in tackling developmental challenges in the country.
Yero gave the commendation on Thursday at the passing out parade of 2012 ‘’ batch C ‘’ Corps members in Kaduna.
Represented by his deputy, Nuhu Bajoga, the governor noted that the scheme had impacted positively on the lives of the people, especially in the rural areas.
However, in Gombe State, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo offered automatic employment to 13 NYSC members who distinguished themselves in the service year.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the appointment included the 12 state merit awardees and the parade commander of the passing out parade ceremony.
The governor also announced N20,000 transport fares to each of the 720 youths, N500,000 to the overall best corps member and N1m to the soldiers that conducted the passing out parade ceremony

Oyedepo, Dangote, Adenuga To Pay N400m Luxury Tax On Private Jets
According to a story by Encomium magazine, Bishop David Oyedepo, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Dr. Mike Adenuga are among the top 10 Nigerian billionaires who will pay hundreds of millions of naira annually as luxury tax due to the imposition of a whooping $4,000 luxury tax by Aviation Ministry on private jet owners and operators per departure.
Some of these super rich Nigerians make use of their jets 3/4 times in a week either within or outside Nigeria and for every trip, it's a cool $4, 000 tax. Continue...
From Encomium magazine
According to our sources, among the four jets owned by Bishop Oyedepo (Gulfstream V and G550, Bombardier and Gulfstream G430), he uses three regularly personally and for his missionary work. Thus, his luxury tax annually will be an average of N399 million. Alhaji Aliko Dangote who has three private jets in his hanger will also pay an average of N399 million per annum. Dr. Mike Adenuga, Jnr, whose Falcon 7x and Bombardier jet are used for personal and business purpose should pay an average of N266 million. Governor Rotimi Amaechi and his Akwa Ibom counterpart, Governor Godswill Akpabio would shell out an average of N166.4 million annually. Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor falls into the same category of N166.4 million naira payer. Meanwhile, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, Jide Omokorie and Ifeanyi Ubah would pay an average of N133 million annually, while Jimoh Ibrahim falls within the N100 million category. Furthermore, the richest woman in Nigeria, Folorunsho Alakija would spend N66 million on luxury tax.
Findings by Encomium Weekly revealed that the top 10 private jet owners who would cough millions annually on the new luxury tax are below.
The clash of the titans between the Federal Government and private jet owners reached a crescendo with the imposition of the $4,000 luxury tax on private jet owners and operators per departure. ASUU Strike Day 100 What Next??
Today, the 8th day of October marks exactly 100 days since university lecturers decided to turn their backs on the lecture halls and their students all in the name of fighting for a 'turn-around' in the tertiary education system in Nigeria.
Let's share our different opinions about this development. As an undergraduate, in what areas do you think you can benefit in the nearest future from the outcome of this strike? What are the specific changes that you think should be effected in your particular institution from the proceeds of the hundreds of billions been asked for by ASUU?
Also, is the strike still justifiable at this stage? Should ASUU sheath its sword and embrace dialogue? What can the student union bodies do to stem the tide of insensitive, sadistic and unrealistic self-seeking actions of the university lecturers year-in, year-out?

Breaking News:-Amaechi, New PDP Behind Lingering ASUU/ASUP Strike – Wike
The Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike has accused Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and his cohorts in the new Peoples’ Democratic Party, nPDP, of being behind the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
Wike, who spoke through the Secretary-General of the Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI, Samuel Nwanosike, also called on well-meaning Nigerians to call Gov. Amaechi to order and stop embarrassing people of Rivers State.
The minister was reacting to a statement credited to Amaechi that rather than focus on the strike embarked upon by ASUU, and recently ASUP, he (Wike) was busy gallivanting campaigning for his governorship ambition.
The Rivers governor, who spoke through the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha, said: “ASUU members have been on strike for over three months. ASUP members decided to resume their suspended strike over Federal Government’s insincerity and inability to honour the agreement signed with the union. Is it not shameful that the Federal Government signed an agreement with ASUU in 2009 and yet to fully implement the terms?
“Whether ASUU and ASUP members are on strike for one year, is not Wike’s business. He is gallivanting all over Rivers State for his 2015 governorship campaign and using President Jonathan as a smokescreen”, he stated.
But Wike debunked the allegation, saying the people of Rivers State were very proud of President Goodluck Jonathan, not because his wife, Dame Patience, hails from Okrika in the state just as he insisted that whether Amaechi likes it or not, the president would be re-elected in 2015, in view of his “impressive” performance.
Nwanosike said: “Wike is not campaigning for 2015. GDI is doing thanksgiving and inauguration at the ward and LGA levels. GDI is a socio-political organisation to promote good governance and not a political party.
“Chief Wike is very successful as a minister of state for education and he is trying his best as the supervising minister of education to resolve the strike by ASUU and ASUP. Amaechi and his cohorts are behind the strike, because of their political interest, to embarrass President Jonathan, who is transforming Nigeria.
“Whether Amaechi and his co-travellers like it or not, President Jonathan will be overwhelmingly re-elected in 2015.”
The Minister of State for Education added that Amaechi, who is also the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, chairman was busy deceiving Rivers people, alleging that the government’s poorly-constructed roads in Port Harcourt, the state capital and other parts of the state had become an eyesore, in spite of the huge allocations to the state.

I Have Lost Sympathy For ASUU – Jos Archbishop
Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, on Sunday rued the prolonged strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, saying he had lost sympathy for the lecturers.
Kaigama, who spoke at the 80th Anniversary of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Jos, Plateau State, said that members of ASUU had lost focus on the cause for their battle.
The cleric said that ASUU, by allowing the strike to linger and allowing students to stay at home for four months running, had exhibited utter insensitivity to the plight of Nigerian students and their future.
He said he regretted that the association had failed to yield to pleas from all quarters, including the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, stressing that ASUU had shown that it was fighting for other causes other than the future of education in the country.
Kaigama said, “Initially I was with ASUU, but when they have allowed the students to stay at home for four months now they begin to lose my sympathy. You don’t go on a strike for a long time, especially in a sector like education, which is the bedrock of the development of any society.
“You said you are fighting for the students and have allowed them to stay at home for more than four months, you must be fighting for something else. You have made your point and all I expect is that they should have listened to all the pleadings by Nigerians, including the Catholic Bishops Conference, which has just ended its meeting in Benue State and where we appealed to ASUU, in the interest of Nigerian students, to go back to the classroom”
Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed has joined others who have been begging ASUU to sheathe its sword. Ahmed appealed to the striking university teachers to reconsider their stance and return to the classroom.
Ahmed made the call while speaking with journalists in Abuja on the sidelines of the 2013 World Teachers’ Day Celebration where he received the NUT Award of Excellence alongside his counterparts from Enugu and Yobe states, Sullivan Chime and Ibrahim Geidam respectively.
The governor expressed the confidence that the Federal Government would soon end the protracted industrial action.
“I am sure the Federal Government is looking at the industrial action critically to ensure that all areas of dispute are brought to an understanding that will bring to an end the current dispute,” he said.
The National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Mr. Michael Olukoye, while fielding questions from journalists reiterated his advice to the Federal Government to set up a team comprising the President, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives and former presidents like Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and representatives of the Vice Chancellors to meet with ASUU and find a common ground to resolve the impasse.
Olukoye observed that members of ASUU refused to call off despite the government’s commitment because of lack of confidence in the government.
He said, “Immediately we gave that ultimatum the first person to invite us was the Minister of Labour and the Supervising Minister for Education, we met with them and they told us all that they have been able to do to put the matter behind us.
“We have not been able to meet with ASUU but we advised that if these people said they need about N400bn and you have been able to provide N130bn, well, to all intent and purposes, it is a good beginning.

sleep, they always think about the girl they truly care about.
3. Guys go crazy over a girl's smile.
4. Guys will do anything just to get you to notice him.

6. A guy who likes you wants to be the only guy you talk to.
7. Boyfriends need to be reassured often that they're
still loved.

what ?!..uh...never mind.." would make him jump to a
conclusion that is far from what you are thinking. And
he'll assume he did some thing wrong and he'll obsess about it
trying to figure it out.
10. Girls are guys' weaknesses.

THE MOST URGENT CIRCULAR
To all Satanists, Representatives, agents, principalities, powers , rulers of Darkness, spirits of wickedness and all demons of all kinds Universal. Listen carefully, the true Christians are doing us harm every day, and if we don’t do anything now we shall loose badly.
I want to draw your attention to the resolution we arrived at during our summit which took place on Tuesday 1/1/1991 from midnight to 4.00am in the morning. You remember that most of the Christians are aware of our activities which we planned during last year and as a result we trapped many of them. It was so good on our side congratulations. Now things seem to change as I can see from the control point No X00000 over death, that is our secret Number which masters the Universe.
The Christians are becoming victorious over our plans, we are suffering defeats now and then, especially your gamson who guards over the clouds, there are mote loopholes and wide penetrations caused by the prayers of strong Unbroken Faith. What can we do now? This is what we do and succeed without fall. Let us sophisticate our tricks by using the bible wrongly especially through preachers, pastors,e.t.c.and applying tricks that we discussed for 1990’s before the rapture which won’t be long as I can see from the Sky signals and as is being interpreted. everywhere in our code discs of our master computer underground products. Let us be serious than ever before. Now here below are the tricks you have to apply to Christians
1)don’t allow them to READ THEIR BIBLES, instead give them interest to Magazines from our library and other books of no value to their spirit and soul. You do this, you would have hindered them from Growing Strong and when temptations and trials come , it will be an easy job for us to finish them up.
2) Make them feel lazy to pray. If you allow them to pray, then the spirit of their God will help them to Discover all our plans against them and they will constantly defeat us.
3)Never Allow them to fast for a right cause because if they do, ours is nothing but Fake and Mass Destruction.
4)Cause them to be poor by telling them not to a)tithe b)Give offerings c)Help one another with whatever they have. In order for them not to realize that it is our tricks just allow them to tithe occasionally and not faith fully because God loves A cheerful Giver. 5)Never at all allow them to love one another with sincere love of their master Jesus Christ Oh! How I hate to mention that name. let them just love form their mouth, but not from Heart and expression of Deeds. “reads their bible from 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, verses 4-8,twist these verses in their minds where is says love suffers long let it not suffer long. e.t.c.
6) Allow them to Backbite one another
7)Give them freedom in a wise way to tell lies just a little by little, that make some bundle just to shut them out of Heaven so as to qualify them for our City –Hell, in that country of Lake of Fire, forever and ever. I wish you apply these tactics according as we discussed last time
Let them know all facts about “JESUS return, but cause them to think that time is still there. Tell them these issues can even take ten years , even twenty years. Whereas he is coming so soon. You know, he doesn’t lie like us. He sticks to his word. Don’t you remember that because of his return as he is now setting himself to return, our strong positions are becoming weaker and weaker every day.
9)Let them waste time for things that are not bad in themselves, but unprofitable as per their preparation to meet their lord in the air. Let them not witness neither preach the Gospel. Those who have TV Tell them to watch attentively for hours but when it comes to prayer, Bible study, let them loose Heart and doze and yawn and ever left in Rapture.

BREAKING NEWS ASUU: FG May Involve Shagari, Obasanjo In Negotiation
There are indications that the Federal Government may seek the intervention of past Presidents/Heads of States, Governors, traditional rulers and serving Senators to mediate in its current face-off with the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
The supervisory Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, said this on Wednesday in Abuja during a palliative meeting with the President of Nigeria Union of Teachers, Michael Olukoya; and Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu.
Olukoya had suggested that following the inability of the committees earlier set up to settle the crisis, the Federal Government should seek the intervention of past presidents, governors, traditional rulers and serving senators.
He also said that the NUT still stood by its threat to solidarise with ASUU over the university teachers’ demands unless directed otherwise by the union’s National Executive Council.
Olukoya said, “With the way this strike has lingered on for three months, we believe government should explore all modalities to end it. Government should invite past heads of states, speakers, senators, Ministers of Labour and Education and every other stakeholder in the sector to resolve this ugly situation.
“Call powerful voices like traditional leaders to intervene in this strike because our concern as teachers is that as these undergraduates stay at home, they are prone to negative vices and in turn these are the same people that would lead the society in future.”
Wike said government was looking at the suggestion by NUT.
He said, “We have met to dialogue on the way forward to the crisis in the education sector. The meeting went very well and it was very cordial with respect to the crisis between ASUU and Federal Government.
“We have put our heads together and we have taken all the ideas, both the one we suggested and the one NUT suggested and we are going to move it forward. The suggestions by NUT were quite good and the ones we suggested were also quite good and we have put them together. Just watch out what is going to happen very soon.”
The Minister was however evasive on when the strike would be called off.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities will meet in Akure, Ondo State on Monday, October 6, to deliberate on the ASUU strike.
This came as students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife on Wednesday, urged the Federal Government to implement immediately the various agreements it reached with labour unions in the nation’s tertiary institutions

We Demanded For 3 Trillion, Not 130 Billion...ASUU President
The National President of the Academic
Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr.
Nasir Fagge, has accused the federal
government of not telling Nigerians the
truth about the demand of the union
as regards the government’s statement
that the union’s demand has been met.
According to Fagge, ASUU had a
Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with
the federal government for it to spend
over N3 trillion to turn around the
fortune of all federal and state
universities and also to better the lot of
the educational sector in the country.
“The agreement is for the federal
government to spend N800 billion yearly
for the next four years, but what we have
is government talking about
N130 billion which is very insignificant,”
he said.
Fagge made the revelation Tuesday, while
fielding questions from journalists, at the
end of the congress of the Benue State
University chapter of ASUU, in Makurdi.
He said: “Our demands are genuine, and
it is based on the mutual agreement
entered into in 2009 by government and
ASUU. We urge the government to
be responsible to that agreement.
“President Goodluck Jonathan said the
strike is being politicised but the truth is
that it is government that is playing
politics with our demands. It is as if every
problem in this country is
now being politicised.
“I want to ask one basic question: Is it
political to ask government to be
responsible enough to implement an
agreement she willingly entered
into.
“It is important to state clearly that we
are a union of intellectuals, and we cannot
accept a situation were the tail will wag
the dog. Whatever we do is
for the betterment of the Nigerian
university system.”
In addition, the ASUU national president
said: “It is important to place on record
that the struggle is a continuous one but
the implementation of the 2009
agreement is key to improving on facilities
in our universities and placing it at par
with what we have in other parts of the
world.”

NASU Begins Nationwide Strike Today
IBADAN — PUBLIC universities system in the country is heading for a total shutdown as members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU, will tomorrow begin a nationwide strike to protest two months unpaid salaries by government.
NASU members who are expected to shut down all social amenities such as power and water supplies, libraries among others, will join their counterpart in the Senior Staff of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, who had since Monday began an indefinite strike over same issue.
It will be recalled that members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have been on strike since July 1, paralyzing academic activities in all public universities.
Law lecture theater, University of Ibadan
General Secretary of NASU, Prince Peters Adeyemi told Vanguard in Ibadan, Oyo State, that members would definitely begin an indefinite by tomorrow unless government paid today.
According to him, “It is sad and unfortunate, but NASU members in all public universities nationwide will down tools until government pay them their salaries. The only thing that can stop the strike is if government pays tomorrow (today). Our members have been going through pains in since and have been doing their work diligently. But the government has refused to pay their salaries for reasons best known to the government. That is the issue. So, we are starting strike by Thursday. It is unfortunate, but that is the reality.”
Members of SSANU had Monday commenced a nationwide strike to protest the stoppage of their salaries for two months by the Federal Government.
General Secretary of SSANU, Promise Adewusi, SSANU had while announcing the commencement of the strike, asked members not to return to work until a counter directive was given to them.
Adewusi said the union took the decision following its letters to the vice-chancellors in various universities, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Ministers of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu and Education, Nyesom Wike as well as the Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Professor Julius Okojie.

SSANU Joins ASUU, Declares Indefinite Strike
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian
Universities (SSANU) on Monday began
indefinite strike.
This followed by a unanimous resolution
adopted by members of the University of
Ibadan chapter of the association at a
congress held at the university Arts Theatre
in Ibadan.
The Chairman of the association, University of
Ibadan chapter, Dr Wale Akinremi, said that
the strike was total.
”This is as a result of the directive from our
National Executive Council; so, the strike is a
national strike.”
He said that the association should have gone
on strike for a very long time ”because of the
government’s provoking way of attending to
issues”.
” We have been short-changed by the
government in the area of subventions and we
cannot take it again ,” Akinremi said.
According to him, the education sector is the
bedrock of the nation’s development and
should be treated with care.
He said that there were other important
issues beside the subventions that needed to
be addressed.
Akinremi listed the issues as training, funding
and disparities in terms of payment.
He said: “Non-teaching members of staff are
wrongly placed in the education system, and
these issues must be holistically addressed.”
According to Akinremi, SSANU will continue
with the strike until it is call off by the
national body.

Resident Doctors Begin Nationwide Strike
After several warning strikes to press home their demands to no avail, the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria has announced the commencement of an indefinite strike action from Tuesday, October 1, 2013.
The association’s president, Dr Jibril Abdullahi, who spoke with reporters today in Kano said the decision to embark on strike though painful, is as a result of the Federal Government’s refusal to meet its demands.
The Resident Doctors’ demands include the following:
• That the payment of the arrears of salaries owed to House Officers has been cash backed and would be effected within the second week of September;
• That names of House Officers would be expunged from the Integrated Payroll Payment System (IPPIS);
• Federal Ministry of Health (FMH) would direct the various hospitals to prepare payment vouchers accordingly; and that
• The 2014 Budget would aptly capture and address the challenges currently experienced in the implementation of IPPIS in the sector.

Nationwide Blackout Looms As PHCN Workers Begin Strike On October 2nd
The already deplorable power situation in the country may worsen as employees of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) have threatened to stop the supply of electricity across the country by October 2 if the federal government goes ahead to handover the assets of the company to private investors today without the conclusion of payment of workers entitlements.
The industrial action follows the expiration of the ultimatum issued by the workers to government to resolve all labour issues ahead of the privatisation of PHCN.
In preparation for the industrial action, the workers will today hold a nationwide protest to alert Nigerians of impending shutdown of the power sector on Wednesday.
Speaking under the umbrella of National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), the union directed its members to withdraw their services from all PHCN installations immediately after the celebration of the nation’s 53 Independence anniversary.
The union, in a statement issued by its secretary, Joe Ajaero, said the industrial action became necessary in view of government refusal to resolve the outstanding labour issues with the workers.
The union said it was particularly disturbed by the statement credited to the Chairman of National Council on Privatisation (NCP), Vice-President Namadi Sambo that government had settled all the labour issues which had impeded the smooth take off of the privatisation programme and the handover to private investors.
The union insisted that the vice-president was either being misled or deliberately keen on emasculating the PHCN workers with a view to further impoverishing them.
It challenged the Office of the Vice-President “to mention any person from his constituency - Kaduna State where he served as governor, who has been paid his entitlement, pension and gratuity.”
The union further alleged governments deployment of military personnel to all PHCN facilities stating that the aim was to ostensibly to allow a forceful takeover of the installations without conclusively settling the labour issues.
It noted that the policy of deploying soldiers to PHCN installations to intimidate workers was “definitely misguided and misdirected as they are directed to creating more tension to already tensed polity.”
The statement read: “For clarity, please note that these issues are outstanding: payments of terminal benefits: payment of the terminal benefits is yet to rise up to 50 per cent for the eligible workers. Non-payment of retirement savings fund to Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs): Up till this moment no efforts has been made to commence payment. The PFAs can attest to this fact. Non-remittance of 2 per cent of the union deductions as agreed: No word has been heard from the BPE/government on remittance of this two person neither has the deductions already made from the paid workers remitted to the unions.”
“Non-payment of retirees who disengaged since 2011: It is absurd and sordid for government not to think of settling these people who laboured over the years in service of this country and get retired meritoriously, while the privatisation exercise was on. Non-regularisation of some of the casuals already identified: With the biometrics done and concluded, it becomes worrisome on the continued delay in regularising the casuals who had been identified based on agreements already entered into. 10 per cent equity shareholding by the workers: In line with the relevant laws, the workers are entitled to 10 per cent Equity Share of the total sale of PHCN. But it appears the government is bent on short changing the workers.”
“The shortfall of terminal benefits from June 2012 till date has not been considered for payment.
“These contending issues cannot be jettisoned by the workers to allow any force to takeover! It behooves us therefore to advise the vice-president and those misguiding him not to toy with the socio-economic lives of PHCN workers, their families and other Nigerians who depend on them for their livelihood. We are set to take our destiny in our hands.
“Because of Independence Day ceremonies, we would be patient to allow for full celebrations.
“However, we hereby urge Nigerians to bear with us if after October 2, the government goes ahead with her illicit handover to the investors and forceful takeover; the implication would be that the workers have technically been asked to withdraw their services and we may not be able to guarantee smooth operations.
Consequently, if after October 2, the Office of the Vice-President fails to correct this misleading information, we shall not guarantee supply of electricity in the country. This is not a threat as our earlier ultimatum has expired.”

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not: 9 Signs You're His Back-up Chick!
1. He Doesn't Claim You: Some men will call you his “girl” in private, but never claim you in public. By this, I mean never introducing you to friends or family, no PDA and won’t be caught dead in any cute, cozy flicks on Instagram. I’m not saying you have to have a social media presence in order to be official, but if he doesn’t want anyone to know you exist and says it’s because he’s “private” and doesn’t want anyone all up in his business, what he’s REALLY saying is “I want to keep my options open.” You’re not the one…keep it moving.
2. Cancels Plans At The Last Minute: This guy only asked you to hang out because the woman he really wanted to go out with was unavailable. But then she became available, which means you are now getting the boot. If this happens often, it’s usually because something, or someone, better came along and he doesn’t need you to fall back on anymore. If it happens once, it’s nothing to get alarmed about. But if it happens often, you’re his back up chick…and you shouldn’t stand for it out of principal alone.
3. He Just Wants To Be Friends (With Benefits): The most obvious way to tell you’re his back up chick is if he tells you he just wants to be friends, even after you’ve managed to sleep together already. Now this is where a woman has to be honest with herself because a lot of men will tell a woman upfront that they don’t want to be in a relationship with her or anyone else, but they think sex will change their mind. Ladies, not even MIND-BLOWING sex will make a man want to commit if he isn’t ready. Hell, he may be ready to commit, just not with you. If he says he just wants to be friends, believe him. If you can hand sex with no strings, cool…rock out. But if you want more, wait to see if that friendship has the potential to turn into something more before you give up the goodies.
4. Makes Plans At The Last Minute: Just like the guy who cancels at the last minute, the man who uses you as his back up chick usually considers you his “Plan B” when his original plans fall through. He knows you’ll be at home waiting by the phone for him to call you to do something, so you keep your weekends free just in case he gets the urge to hit you up. If you recognize this behaviour in yourself, stop it and get a life. As the saying goes, don’t make a man a priority when he only considers you an option. Next time he calls with a last minute request to see you, be busy
5. He Says You Are Perfect For Someone Else: How many times have you been seeing a guy casually who complains that there are no good women out there when, in fact, you seem to be everything he’s looking for? It’s frustrating when the guy you’re head over heels in love with can’t recognize a good thing when it’s staring him in the face, so you keep trying to show him how wonderful you are to no avail. He will tell you that you’re beautiful, intelligent, funny, hot, and everything that any man could ever want…just not him. What he’s saying is he’s just not that into you. If he keeps trying to push you onto someone else, then follow his lead and find a man who actually wants to be with you.
6. He Openly Dates Other Women: Again, this is a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many women are in denial that they have a chance with a guy who openly talks about and dates other women. If you two have no real commitment and he has no problem discussing other women in front of you, you’re wasting your time hoping for a relationship with this guy. If he knows that you want more than a casual dating situation with him, yet flaunts other women in front of you anyway, he has no regard for your feelings. In fact, wants you to know that you two are nowhere close to being in a committed relationship. He’s showing you who he is and what he does and does not want. Believe him!
7. He Never Returns Your Calls: Duh. If you are always calling him, only to get a response back from him days or weeks later, he’s not that into you. When a man is digging you, he can’t help but reach out to you to hear your voice, check up on you and see what you’re up to. But if days, weeks…months go by, and then he hits you up out of the blue like “what’s up…wanna hang out,” or drunk texts you asking if he can stop by, it is up to you to see the clear sign. This basically means he’s in between girlfriends, his girlfriend is out of town, or he’s bored or Hot and there is no one else to call. Block him.
8. You Can't Spend The Night After Sex: If a man says you can’t stay over because he has to get up early or simply asks you to leave after having sex, you are a non-factor in his life. You should be able to at least get a good night’s rest after rolling around in the sheets and maybe even a bowl of cereal in the morning before you head out. But if he’s always got an excuse as to why you can’t stay, he’s using you for sex only or he’s afraid his REAL girlfriend will roll up on him and bust him. If he was really into you, he’d want you to stay so you could spoon all night. Have some dignity and never go back…and sleep in your own bed.
9. He Always Comes To You After A Break Up: This is the guy who cries on your should after some other no-good chick breaks his heart into a million little pieces…and he has yet to realize that you would never hurt him like that. He knows deep down inside that you are a good woman and would make a great wife one day, but rather than getting with you, he dates ratchet chicks and then wonders how he got played for a fool. He’s vulnerable, so he talks to you in romantic ways saying things like “why can’t all women be wonderful like you,” getting your hopes up that he’ll actually open his eyes and discover that you’re the one. He spends time with you while he heals and you take his mind off that wicked b–ch who broke his heart and you think he’ll pay you back with his undying love and devotion. Wake up, because that stuff only happens in your dreams or the movies. Once his wounds have healed and he’s over her, he doesn’t need you anymore…he’s on the prowl again looking for anyone but you. Next time he comes to you after a breakup, tell him you’d love to console him but you’ve got plans with your new man and he’ll have to get over it himself. You’re not his therapist, he’ll be alright.
20 Signs You’re A Creative Person.
The world would be a dreadful place without creative people. Could you even imagine life without art? The thought alone makes me tremble. Could you be the next William Shakespeare, Steven Spielberg, or J.K. Rowling? Find out with these 20 signs you’re a creative person.
1. You have an authority problem.
Creative types don’t always get along well with management because they would rather march to the beat of their own drum.
2. You have a hard time relating with people.
Most people have a strong desire to fit in, something that you don’t understand. Conformity is gross.
3. You like to solve problems.
While most people are running and hiding from problems, you purposely seek them because you love nothing more than a fresh new challenge.
4. You are your own worst critic.
You wrote a blog many months ago and thought it was wonderful at the time you published it. But then you read it again later and wonder, “What the hell was I thinking?” You then identify approximately a thousand ways it could have been better and kick yourself for being so silly.
Note: Coincidentally, this is why I REFUSE to read my own old blogs and articles.
5. You ask lots of questions.
A stagnant mind devoid of curiosity doesn’t have the capacity to create.
6. You carry a notebook everywhere you go.
Because how else can you remember all those brilliant ideas that strike you on the fly?
7. You find beauty in the ordinary.
Creatives live in the present and are in constant awe of the world around them.
8. You are numb to rejection.
Let’s face it: it’s a hard world out there. If becoming a writer or actor or artist was easy, a lot more people would do it. Getting that dreaded rejection letter stinks at first, but eventually you become able to just shrug it off and go on to the next one.
9. You understand the power of atmosphere.
There is a reason some authors travel to a rustic cabin or sandy beach to write their novels. Some atmospheres are more conducive to creativity than others. Maybe you like to pack up your laptop and go to a coffee shop, downtown bench, or under a tree at the park. Whatever the case may be, you know the locations that boost your creative juices.
10. You think most people have poor taste.
You might find the movies and music most people enjoy to be downright terrible. I don’t know about you, but I believe SADNESS dies every time someone listens to NICKELBACK
11. You are a people-watcher.
Why do people watch TV when real life is infinitely more interesting?
12. You aren’t in it for the money.
Money pays bills but it doesn’t provide happiness. There are much easier ways to make a living. This isn’t about money, it’s about passion.
13. You experience emotional highs and lows.
Your emotional life is not a straight line. Instead, it is more like the path of a roller-coaster full of dips, drops, hills, loops, and twists. Sometimes you might experience an eruption of happiness and a crash to sadness within mere moments of each other. The most painful parts usually find themselves in your art.
14. You seek inspiration.
Inspiration doesn’t happen on its own. Whether it is the opening of an art gallery, a theatrical production, or live music at a downtown bar, you search for inspiration wherever you can find it. It’s nice to know you’re not alone in your desire to create.
15. You have an interesting sense of humor.
Off-color jokes are the best kind of jokes.
16. You evolve like a boss.
An ability to adapt to challenging scenarios is necessary for survival in the creative jungle.
17. You hate stereotypes.
You understand that human beings are way too complicated to be dumped into gender roles or stereotypes.
18. You don’t have a filter.
Don’t you think life would be much more fun if everyone just said what they were thinking with no filter? There is no such thing as TMI (Too Much Information).
19. You take time to think.
Your brain is your greatest asset.
20. You don’t bend to pressure.
Whether it’s a hater who thinks your work of art sucks, a family member who thinks “you should get a real job,” or a friend who thinks your idea “will never work,” you don’t cave to outside pressure

Why Do Short Girls Demand Tall Guys?
Ive a friend who is on the shorter side. Barely 5 feet tall herself.. she complains that a guy is only 5'7.. wtf?!?
I can understand taller girls wanting a taller guys.. but the short ones? What gives? Hes still taller than her. I thought that is what mattered.

Expired Foods Can Still Be Eaten
When Doug Rauch, the former president of grocery chain Trader Joe's, announced earlier this week that he is planning on opening a discount store that carries expired food, the big question many responded with was: "Is it safe?" Americans have come to equate products past their expiration dates with food poisoning, a misconception that contributes to 40 percent — or $160 billion worth — of the nation's food supply being trashed each year.
"Food-borne illness comes from the contamination of food by salmonella, listeria, and other pathogens," agriculture and food expert Dana Gunders, who co-authored a recent report on food labeling by the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Harvard Food Law and Policy Clinic, tells Yahoo Shine. "They get on the food during production and processing. That's what leads to people being sick, not the age of the food." Many foods will still be OK to eat after their "use by" date has long expired, even meat and milk.
While most people think that food labeling is regulated, the Federal Food and Drug Administration oversees only the labeling of baby formula. Everything else is at the discretion of the food producer or seller.
Widespread labeling came about during the 1970s, long after the majority of American consumers had transitioned from growing their own food or purchasing food from farms and local shops to buying from large supermarkets. "The demand for labels came out of a concern about freshness. They were never meant to be about safety," says Gunders. In fact, expiration dates aren't a guarantee of safety at all, since they were designed to simply indicate peak quality.
There are actually two types of food labels. "Sell by" dates are meant to tell retailers when the manufacturer recommends that they rotate stock. "Use by" or "best by" dates, meanwhile, indicate freshness to the consumer. "For most products, it's up to the manufacturer," says Gunders. "Some may use actual lab tests, but that's pretty rare. They might do consumer taste testing or they might guess according to how competitors are labeling."
In my own refrigerator, a sealed glass jar of salsa reads "best by April 24, 2014." What exactly happens on April 25? When it comes to eating so-called expired food, Gunders and other experts say you can indeed consume many foods past their expiration dates if you eyes, nose, and a healthy serving of common sense.
"Smell the food," food safety expert Ted Labuza tells Yahoo Shine. Labuza, who teaches food science and nutrition at the University of Minnesota says the key to ensuring a longer shelf life is controlling the storage temperature and preventing exposure to moisture and oxygen. Before you toss something out, check out this list of just some of the items that will last beyond their expiration dates, if you follow a few simple steps.
Meat. Labuza keeps his refrigerator at between 32 and 34 degrees, lower than the generally recommended 40 degrees. This gives meat a 50 percent longer shelf life, he says. Labuza points out that stores don't scientifically determine the use-by date of fresh meat, but follow what their competitors are doing.
Milk. Pasteurized milk also lasts 50 percent longer when stored at a lower temperature.
Canned goods. The label generally gives a shelf life of about three years. If you keep cans in a cool place (not above the stove) they will last about seven years. Always discard dented cans. Jarred and bottled goods will also last longer than their best date if kept in a cool place.
Frozen food. "I never look at the dates, I just eat it," says Labuza. Freezing kills all of the microbes that cause spoilage, although food will develop ice crystals (freezer burn) if there is an air space inside the packaging.
Dry goods such as crackers and corn chips. If they have a stale texture, crisp them up in a toaster oven. If they smell "barnyard-y" or rancid, the oils have spoiled and it's best to discard.
Eggs. Place in a bowl of water. If an egg floats, it's gone bad, but if it sinks, it's still edible, even if that expiration date passed you by weeks ago.
Pasta. Keep pasta in clear packaging in a dark, cool place which will increase shelf life and also retain nutrients, including riboflavin, that are light sensitive.
Bread. Keeping bread and other wheat-flour based foods in the freezer dramatically extends shelf life.
Packaged greens. If your lettuce is wilted but not visibly decayed, you can revive it by soaking in ice water for about 10 minutes.
One caveat: Prepared foods and processed meats can pick up pathogens while being produced. Gunders warns that prepared foods such as a deli sandwich or processed meats can harbor listeria that proliferates even when stored in the refrigerator. Use such foods quickly and never serve processed meats such as hot dogs or sausages (including those labeled pre-cooked) raw, especially to small children, the elderly, or anyone who has a compromised immune system. The good news: Cooking will kill surface bacteria.

Survives Risky Surgery In Afghanistan
Three Month old Asree Gul, with an extra head as she lies at a hospital in the eastern Afghanistan city of Jalalabad
This shocking picture shows a three-month-old baby with an extra head as she lies at a hospital in the Afghanistan city of Jalalabad.
The photo was taken just before Asree Gul underwent a rare operation to have the second skull removed.
Doctors say the surgery was a success, but it was complicated as vital nerves and blood vessels were linked to the second skull.
The family – farmers in Chaparhar district – approached doctors after Asree Gul’s second skull made it difficult for her to sleep, and led to her being stigmatised in their village.
Asree Gul – which means “new flower” – is one of a set of twins, and doctors believe her unusual condition was caused when a third baby failed to develop in the womb.
“Her mother gave birth to twins, two girls, one girl was in good health but the other has an abnormality. She had an extra head attached to her head,” Dr Ahmad Obaid Mojadidi told AFP.
He added that it was the first successful surgery of its kind in eastern Afghanistan.
“We don’t have very developed equipment,” he said, “but we are very happy to have conducted the operation successfully”.
The generous doctor completed the operation – which would usually cost between £2,500 and £3,700 – for free, as the family could not afford it

A Letter From A Mother To Her Daughter
"My dear girl, the day you see I’m getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I’m going through.
If when we talk, I repeat the same thing a thousand times, don’t interrupt to say: “You said the same thing a minute ago”... Just listen, please. Try to remember the times when you were little and I would read the same story night after night until you would fall asleep.
When I don’t want to take a bath, don’t be mad and don’t embarrass me. Remember when I had to run after you making excuses and trying to get you to take a shower when you were just a girl?
When you see how ignorant I am when it comes to new technology, give me the time to learn and don’t look at me that way... remember, honey, I patiently taught you how to do many things like eating appropriately, getting dressed, combing your hair and dealing with life’s issues every day... the day you see I’m getting old, I ask you to please be patient, but most of all, try to understand what I’m going through.
If I occasionally lose track of what we’re talking about, give me the time to remember, and if I can’t, don’t be nervous, impatient or arrogant. Just know in your heart that the most important thing for me is to be with you.
And when my old, tired legs don’t let me move as quickly as before, give me your hand the same way that I offered mine to you when you first walked.
When those days come, don’t feel sad... just be with me, and understand me while I get to the end of my life with love.
I’ll cherish and thank you for the gift of time and joy we shared. With a big smile and the huge love I’ve always had for you, I just want to say, I love you... my darling daughter."
